HOW DOES DERMA SHIELD WORK ?
Derma Shield has specially formulated ingredients, which form a chemical molecular bond with the epithelial or top layer of the skin. The mesh-like bond actually keeps most elements from penetrating into the lower layers of skin where stains, odour retention and damage can occur. The would-be problem causing elements simply stay isolated on the skin's surface where they can be more easily cleaned off when you have completed your tasks.

WILL MY SKIN FEEL DIFFERENTLY ? You will feel little or no difference when you are wearing the Derma Shield. They are non-greasy, non-sticky, and does not effect the sense of touch.

WILL DERMA SHIELD BLOCK MY NORMAL SKIN FUNCTIONS ?
NO! Even though Derma Shield has the ability to protect your skin from nearly everything, it still allows your skin to breathe and perspire normally, finally leaving the skin surface by normal sublimation.

HOW DO I USE DERMA SHIELD ?
Using Derma Shield is simple. All you have to do is: 1. Make sure the areas of skin that need protection are clean and dry. 2. Apply a golf ball size amount to the skin. Other skin areas will need varying amounts. Make sure the entire area is completely covered. Pay special attention to the cuticles and underneath the fingernails. 3. Rub the Product over the area you want to protect and let it dry. 4. When you want to remove something from your skin, simply rinse with water or wash with soap and water. The unwanted material is removed, but the products' protection remains for approximately 4 hours. Note: (Certain substances are harder to remove from the skin than others and may require a solvent to remove completely. The Products' barrier not only protects you from the original substance, but it also protects you from solvents you may need to use for clean up.)

HOW LONG DOES ONE APPLICATION LAST ?
Once the Product is applied and has a chance to dry, the protection will usually last up to 4 hours, depending on proper application and type of protection required. When exposed to harsh acids, application may have to be more frequent.

WHAT DOES IT PROTECT ME FROM ?
Derma Shield helps protect you from nearly everything that comes in contact with your skin. Some of the more common things it protects you against are: water, gasoline, dirt, oil, grease, cleaning solvents, harsh detergents, copy toner, most dyes and shoe polishes, poison ivy, paint, ink, glues, chemicals and provides temporary protection against most acids and bases, organic and inorganic. It also helps reduce allergies and skin discolouration from metals and much, much more.

WHAT IS CONTACT DERMATITIS ?
Contact Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin caused by an allergic reaction to contact with an animal, vegetable, or chemical substance; a condition that is commonly associated with many occupations.

IS IT NECESSARY TO WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING ?
In hazardous environments, only meant to be an additional and/or secondary protective barrier for your skin. Even though it is extremely effective against most skin abusers, it is not meant to replace normal protective clothing. If it is prudent, or your job description calls for gloves or any other type of protective clothing, wear it. Latex gloves often tear or may have small holes. In these cases, these products provide backup protection. It also helps protect against irritation that often develops from wearing gloves.

WHO SHOULD USE DERMA SHIELD ?
Derma Shield's professional formula was originally developed for use in the Industrial and Medical environments. However, everyone can benefit from the protection of this product. It's not just for those people who work with harsh and hazardous substances every day.

HOW SAFE IS DERMA SHIELD ?

WILL DERMA SHIELD PROTECT AN OPEN WOUND ?
Derma Shield will not form a barrier over an open wound, cut or abrasion as long as it is emitting blood or lymph, but is will not be harmful either, so you can still apply these products for normal protection. When the wound is glazed over, Derma Shield will help protect the tender, healing tissue and enhances the body's ability to heal itself.

WHY IS DERMA SHIELD IN AN AEROSOL FORM ?
Derma Shield has a unique chemical emulsion, and it was necessary to put it in aerosol form because of enhanced spreadability and more economical, beneficial to end-users.

ARE THERE ANY ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS WITH DERMA SHIELD ?
NO! The propellant in Derma Shield contains no fluorocarbons and does not harm the ozone layer.

We believe Derma Shield will protect normal skin from aqueous insults or irritants. This belief is based on testing in laboratories and under actual conditions. FROM WHAT DOES DERMA SHIELD NOT PROTECT AGAINST ?
We know that the Derma Shield will not work against hydrofluoric acid and products formulated from hydrofluoric acid. Derma Shield does not protect against mechanical burns. It also does not protect against sunburn.

WILL DERMA SHIELD PROTECT SKIN FROM THE MINUTE PARTICLES OF FIBERGLASS OR GRAPHITE ?
Yes, because these sub-micron particles are coated with moisture and in a sense are in aqueous form.

CAN SOMEONE APPLY DERMA SHIELD, AND STILL BE PROTECTED FROM THE VOLATILE COMPOUNDS IN RUBBER LATEX GLOVES ?
Yes, two applications of Derma Shield recommended.

WHAT ARE THE VOLATILE COMPOUNDS IN RUBBER LATEX GLOVES THAT CAUSE ALLERGIES ?
Most contact allergies are caused by mercaptopenzothiazole and zinc oxide, both of which are used as rubber "accelerations" in manufacturing.

WILL DERMA SHIELD PROTECT AGAINST THE HARSH DISINFECTANT SOAPS USED IN HOSPITALS, ETC ?

IS DERMA SHIELD SAFE FOR HUMANS ?
Yes. Derma Shield contains no toxic or hazardous compounds. Primary ocular, primary dermal and acute oral toxicity tests have been conducted on Derma Shield and are classified as non-toxic and non-hazardous according to the Federal Hazardous Substance Act Regulations (16-CFR 1500). {USA ONLY}

IS DERMA SHIELD FLAMMABLE ?
No. However, the propellant in Derma Shield (the same as in shaving cream) is flammable.

CAN DERMA SHIELD BE APPLIED OVER A SUNSCREEN ?
Yes, always apply sunscreen FIRST.

WILL DERMA SHIELD PROTECT AGAINST SALTWATER ?
Yes.

WILL DERMA SHIELD PROTECT NORMAL UNINJURED SKIN FROM BIOLOGICALLY CONTAMINATED FLUIDS ?
Yes. Derma Shield will not protect open or wet wounds or mucous membranes.

WHY ARE THEY DIFFERENT FROM SKIN BARRIER PRODUCTS THAT HAVE BEEN ON THE MARKET FOR YEARS ?
Two Reasons: 1. Derma Shield works. The skin protection of this product has been proven time and time again. Its' technology is new. 2. Derma Shield is waterproof, which is a major reason for its' effectiveness. The directions on "old" skin barrier products advise the user to "wash off" after using. Derma Shield technologically advanced.

WHAT ABOUT COMPETITION ?
There are known similar products. Derma Shield has been proven to be considerably more effective than all these. Also, Derma Shield is marketed with technical support and service -- the other products are not.

WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH DERMA SHIELD ?
Not applying the Derma Shield correctly and often enough is the most common problem.

IS DERMA SHIELD APPROVED FOR USE IN FOOD PROCESSING PLANTS?
No, but they can be used by food handlers - restaurants, cafeterias, etc.

IS DERMA SHIELD FDA APPROVED ?
Derma Shield is listed with the FDA as an over-the-counter (OTC) drug. {USA ONLY} Derma Shield is marketed according to the requirements of the FDA's Skin Protectant Monograph (21 CFR Part 347). {USA ONLY}

IS DERMA SHIELD SAFE TO USE ON OR NEAR THE LIPS, EYES OR NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO THE NASAL PASSAGES ?
Derma Shield has been tested in government approved laboratories and shown to be non-irritating to any type of skin, including the lips. The only suggestion was not to apply the Derma Shield to any mucous membranes. Tests conducted by the same labs proved Derma Shield to not be an eye irritant. Derma Shield produces no odours, which would be damaging to the nasal membranes, the product is essentially odourless.

IF A CLINICIAN'S GLOVES SHOULD RIP AND BLOOD EXPOSURE SHOULD OCCUR, WHAT IS THE RISK LEVEL ?
Tests have been conducted which demonstrate that blood and all other body fluids are repelled by the film created by Derma Shield. Therefore, blood in direct contact with the skin is less likely to be absorbed and much more readily removed.

DOES THE APPLICATION OF LOTIONS OR CREAMS PRIOR TO DERMA SHIELD APPLICATION COMPROMISE THE PRODUCTS' ABILITY TO PROTECT OR BIND TO THE SKIN ?
The best way to use them together is to apply whatever cream or lotion desired, rub them very thoroughly into the skin, and then wash away residue which may be left on the surface of the skin. Then apply the Derma Shield as described on the label of the product. The ability of Derma Shield to protect or bind to the skin will not be compromised.
